Individual Therapy

I truly believe there are no issues too big or too small for therapy. For some, it is a lifelong support, and for others it is a temporary expedition. Sometimes we seek therapy due to a recent event, and other times for a pattern or feelings that have existed since before we can remember.

Our sessions will likely feel like informal conversations. For every person, therapy may look a little different, but the conversation, often making room for humor, will likely be a theme throughout. I tailor my approach to try and best fit each individual’s needs, drawing on many different techniques and modalities to best serve your purpose.

The beginning of our work together is about building the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you. Next, we will move into clarifying your direction and stepping into responsibility and change on your own terms. While I may bring certain knowledge and skills to our work, you will always remain the expert on your life and what is best for you, and I will honor that throughout our work.

What to expect

A common experience I hear from people during therapy: On one hand, they understand something is true in a logical way. However, their emotional side just won’t budge. No matter how hard they try to analyze or rationalize, they may not truly believe what they know logically to be true.

If that resonates with you, you may find yourself having a hard time believing that you are, in fact:

  • allowed to rest and take care of yourself
  • able to create safety structurally and socially
  • deserving of life and love
  • not at fault for things that others may have done to you

The inner struggle to make what we -know- and what we -feel- align at last can be exhausting, confusing, and disheartening. I want to help shine a light on the final piece of that puzzle. Relief is possible.
