EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly
manualized therapy originally designed to help clients process
traumatic events. It involves some form of bilateral stimulation
(alternating stimulating both hemispheres of the brain) either through eye movements, tactile vibrations, or sound.

Coherence Therapy

CT is a lesser talked about type of therapy which utilizes memory
reconsolidation, not unlike EMDR, to help clients find congruency
between their logical knowings and emotional knowings. It relies on
symptom coherence, or a full understanding of why an issue is not only harmful, but also helpful to the person.

Internal Family Systems

Sometimes referred to as "Parts Work," IFS can be used to conceptualize the many
different parts of us that may be in conflict with each other. A core
goal of IFS is to create a harmonious system between all parts and the core Self.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy works from a few different principles, however a core concept is the belief that meaning in life is something we make, not something inherent to living. It also emphasizes
the paradoxes between our freedom to choose vs need to take responsibility for our choices, and aloneness vs desire for connections.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT combines elements of CBT and mindfulness to help clients regulate emotions, learn distress tolerance strategies, and communication skills. This therapy was originally developed for folks with severe suicidal ideation and has since become the gold star treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. I believe the skills manual of DBT can be helpful for anyone, regardless of diagnosis.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a therapeutic foundation assuming our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. This method of therapy focuses on thoughts as the identified cause of negative feelings. It explores how changing our behaviors can impact our thoughts, thus impacting our feelings. For some clients this may be a great solution, however, it is not my main modality of choice as it falls short with many folks who do not respond to therapy that focuses on thoughts and "top down" therapy.

Emotion-Focused Therapy

EFT can help clients name, understand, and feel their emotions to a deeper degree. Though this is a modality typically targeted towards couples therapy, I feel it can be useful when an individual may struggle with expressing themselves.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT (read as the word "act" rather than A. C. T.) is an action oriented approach that aims to help clients move towards acceptance of their reality and commit to actions aligned with their values.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a method that encourages clients to explore the ambivalence, obstacles, reasons, values, and beliefs about taking a specific action they may feel stuckness with.
